Rio Tinto Western Turner 2 (WTS2)

Commissioning of updated and new processing infrastructure

Partnering with Calibre.

THE BRIEF

Provide electrical and instrumentation technicians to install, upgrade and commission equipment for the WTS2 Project, and a team of permitting administrators to assist the Calibre teams during shutdown activities.

THE CHALLENGE

Delays due to other contractors and trade teams and navigating restricted schedules from construction handover to operations.

THE RESULTS

Kinetiq Solutions provided highly skilled and suitably qualified personnel that expanded the capability of the Calibre team with minimal disruption or training. All commissioning works and permitting support over the 18 month period were completed on time and on budget with no safety incidents.

THE SCOPE

  • Replacement and modification of overland conveyor high voltage VSD.
  • Commissioning of newly installed safety system to all HV conveyor drives.
  • Secondary crushing building upgrade and commissioning of new conveyor. Upgrade to existing screen house at Tom Price, as well as the commissioning of two newly installed screens.
  • Screen house tripper upgrade.
  • Upgrade and capacity increase to yard conveyors and TLO facility.
  • Permitting administrators to assist with major permit lock out tag out procedures during shutdowns.

THE FEEDBACK

“I engaged Kinetiq Solutions to assist with the commissioning of shutdown upgrades at the Tom Price Mine Site. We operated in a dynamic environment where the project went from construction completion through to load commissioning within a two-day window.

Kinetiq with their team of dedicated professionals were able to succeed where other contractors failed.”
